Our Story My wife Julie and I were both born and raised in the same town we live now, Marshall, Arkansas, right in the heart of the southern Ozarks. I graduated in 1984 from the University of Arkansas, in Fayetteville, with a degree in Accounting/Data Processing, but somehow knew that moving to the “big city” and working as an accountant wasn’t the right thing for me.
Julie and I were married in 1985, and we moved to Eureka Springs, AR that year, and started Buffalo River Log Homes, on Highway 62 West just outside of Eureka Springs. Our paths and history are very similar to the Kuhns Bros. themselves. Julie’s grandfather started a lumber and timber business just after World War II ended, and they are still in business today with her father and brother now running the operation. She was raised in the timber/lumber industry, and most of my family members were in the construction business. We both really fell in love with Log Homes, and so the business was a perfect fit for us.
We sold and built log homes, cabins and rental cabins in and around the Eureka Springs area for 8 years, from 1985 through 1992, building over 40 homes and cabins. In 1992, about the time our oldest child was about to start school, we sold our business in Eureka Springs and moved back home to Marshall. We bought a farm about 6 miles from town, and that is where we still live today with our youngest son, Ethan who is 14.
After installing and finishing hardwood floors in many of the log homes we built earlier, in 1994 I started Ozark Hardwood Flooring, as the demand for hardwood flooring was strong and growing. Ozark Hardwood Flooring is still in business today, and now installs, sands and finishes or refinishes over 150,000 square feet of beautiful hardwood flooring per year, all over central and north Arkansas.

Log Homes never seem get out of your blood, and we never really lost contact with the log home industry. When we made the decision to return actively to the Log Home Business, we did a lot of careful research on about 50 different log home companies. This list of 50 was quickly narrowed down to about 5. Finally, we determined there wasn’t really a choice at all. We just kept coming back to Kuhns Bros.

We traveled to Lewisburg, toured the milling facility, corporate headquarters, log cutting lines, and entire operation, and were thoroughly impressed with the company and the people behind it. This is a company who is dedicated to the satisfaction of their customers.
